Sabinillas Brings the St. Patrick’s Spirit, Rain or Shine!
Manilva might not be Ireland, but for one day a year, it certainly gives it a run for its money! The Shake Your Shamrocks event, held on Sunday 16th March in Sabinillas, was a true testament to the community spirit and love of a good celebration that this town is known for. Even with the ever-unpredictable March weather keeping everyone on their toes, neither the looming grey skies nor the inevitable bursts of rain could put a damper on the festivities.
Draped in green, locals and visitors alike gathered for a day filled with fantastic live music, plenty of laughter, and, of course, an abundance of Guinness. The energy was high from the start, with a superb line-up of acts setting the stage for an unforgettable St. Patrick’s weekend party.

Music, Rain, and a Bit of Rock and Roll Rebellion
The musical entertainment had to adapt to the weather, with concerns over electrical safety forcing performances to be split between the surrounding bars. However, this only added to the intimate, lively atmosphere, as bars became buzzing hubs of live music, each offering their own slice of the St. Paddy’s spirit.
Kicking off the entertainment was the talented Gary Fearon, whose set got the crowd into the festive mood. As the day unfolded, the Midnight Flyers brought their classic rock and feel-good sound, while Sonic in Acadia kept spirits high despite the showers. However, in true rebellious rock and roll fashion, Shattered Silence threw caution to the wind and braved the elements, refusing to let a bit of rain stand in their way. Their defiant performance, with the risk of electrocution looming, earned them a place in the folklore of Manilva’s music scene!
Karaoke, Guinness & Non-Stop Fun
While the live acts brought their A-game, it wasn’t just about the professionals. One of the standout moments of the day was the outdoor karaoke hosted by Monahans Bar, giving locals the chance to steal the spotlight. From Irish classics to crowd-pleasing anthems, it was a chance for everyone to be part of the entertainment, and the crowd responded with roaring support for every brave soul who took the mic.
With green flags flying, pints of Guinness flowing, and a sea of shamrock-covered outfits adding to the festive feel, the atmosphere was nothing short of electric. Families, friends, and visitors soaked up every moment, proving once again that Manilva knows how to throw a party—rain or shine!
