Local News
For the past five weeks, Monahan's Bar in Sabinillas has been home to some of the most fiercely contested vocal showdowns this side of The X Factor – and no, Simon Cowell isn’t lurking in the corner with his unimpressed stare. Instead, locals have been belting out their best in a high-stakes karaoke competition that’s been drawing crowds and creating legends.
This Friday, 14th February, sees the second semi-final take place, where just three talented singers will move on to the grand final and battle it out for the coveted €200 prize – which, let’s be honest, is probably going to go straight behind the bar in celebration.
Hosting the madness is none other than local entertainer and comedian Gary Fearon, a man whose job is to keep the spirits high, the laughs rolling, and the singers (mostly) in key. Expect good vibes, a few cheeky jokes, and maybe even an impromptu singalong or two – depending on how many drinks have been flowing.

One contestant in particular has been turning heads – 12-year-old rap sensation, Jaigo Reynolds. Yes, you read that right. This pint-sized performer left the audience gobsmacked when he took on none other than Eminem’s ‘Houdini’. We’re talking about a kid who could probably out-rap most adults – and without tripping over the lyrics! Jaigo will be back this Friday, hoping to secure his place in the final. If you fancy seeing something truly special, get yourself down to Monaghan’s – because, let’s be honest, when was the last time you saw a 12-year-old nail an Eminem track in a pub?

So, if you’re looking for a night of great entertainment, fantastic talent, and the occasional questionable high note, Monahan’s Bar is the place to be this Friday. Who will make it through to the grand final? Who will bring the house down? And most importantly – will anyone attempt ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and actually make it to the end?
Only one way to find out – see you there!
