Community Hero Award April 2025: Daniela Caballero: Making Manilva a Better Place

Each month, LoveManilva shines a light on an individual who has made a remarkable contribution to our community. This April, we are thrilled to honour Daniela Caballero, a woman of many talents whose dedication and hard work have touched countless lives in Manilva.

Many in the area know Daniela as a talented singer, regularly performing at local venues and as a member of the popular band Hot Mess. However, there is so much more to her story. Since moving to Manilva in 2009, Daniela has been deeply involved in community projects, dedicating her time and energy to making a difference in ways that extend far beyond the stage.

One of her most significant contributions is her work with St George Charity, which she has helped run alongside fellow locals Dean, Gary, and Judith since its founding 13 years ago. The charity provides essential support to those in need, offering assistance to families, individuals, and community initiatives that rely on local generosity. Daniela’s commitment to this cause has helped shape the charity into a trusted pillar of support within Manilva.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when many faced isolation and uncertainty, Daniela played a key role in organising lockdown fiestas, bringing joy and entertainment to the community through Facebook Live performances. These virtual events kept spirits high, uniting people through music and laughter when physical gatherings were not possible. Her ability to bring happiness in difficult times was a testament to her generous nature and unwavering commitment to the well-being of those around her.

In addition to her charitable work, Daniela is also a driving force behind Manilva Pride. As the treasurer and co-organiser, she works tirelessly to ensure that the event not only celebrates diversity and inclusivity but also fosters a sense of unity and acceptance within the community. Manilva Pride has grown to become a highlight of the local calendar, bringing people together to celebrate love and equality in a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.

What makes Daniela’s achievements even more remarkable is that she manages all of this while maintaining a full-time career. She runs an insurance company in Gibraltar, is a chartered accountant, and also operates Duquesa Girl, a custom printing business. Balancing these professional responsibilities alongside her community work requires immense dedication, yet she continues to give her time and energy selflessly.

What makes this recognition even more special is that Daniela originally thought LoveManilva was featuring her as an entertainer. However, after uncovering the depth of her contributions to our town, it became clear that she was the perfect candidate for our Community Hero award.
