Star India Duquesa: Spice, Charm, and Seriously Good Curries

Tucked away just behind the historic Castillo de la Duquesa lies a hidden gem that any curry lover should have firmly pinned on their culinary map – Star India Duquesa. Don’t let the quiet, castle-adjacent setting fool you – inside, it’s a flavour explosion waiting to happen.

We popped in recently, drawn by the glowing recommendations and, quite frankly, the irresistible lure of curry. What did we go for? The classics, of course – Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken – because sometimes, the greatest hits are hits for a reason.

And let me tell you, these dishes didn’t disappoint. The Chicken Tikka Masala came out sizzling with that unmistakable creamy tomato richness, delicately spiced and beautifully balanced – not too hot, not too mild, Goldilocks would’ve been thrilled. The Butter Chicken? Silky, smooth, and indulgent enough to make you want to write poetry. If we could have licked the plates without drawing attention, we would have.

Now, full disclosure – in our excitement, we totally forgot to take any photos. That’s how good the food was. But fear not! We found a few snaps online that’ll definitely get your taste buds going. Think rich, vibrant sauces, fluffy naan, and perfectly cooked rice. It all looked as good as it tasted – promise.

The portions were generous, the presentation was spot on, and everything arrived piping hot (a small but significant joy). You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients and the care that goes into the preparation – this isn’t just another tourist-trap curry house; this is the real deal.

Now let’s talk about the team. The service at Star India is just as warm as their naan bread. The staff are incredibly friendly, genuinely welcoming, and have that sixth sense for when you need something – not hovering, but always on hand. It’s like dining with people who actually enjoy having you there – rare these days, right?

The restaurant itself has a cosy, relaxed vibe – perfect whether you’re on a romantic date, out with friends, or just escaping to savour a solo meal in peace (with a naan all to yourself – highly recommended).

In a town where dining options are plentiful but hit-or-miss, Star India stands out as one of the best places to get top-quality Indian food in Manilva. Whether you’re a seasoned curry connoisseur or just fancy something comforting and delicious, this place delivers – every single time.

So if you’re in the area and your stomach’s rumbling, skip the paella for a night and head over to Star India. Your tastebuds will thank you. Your jeans might not – but life’s all about balance, isn’t it?
